Pre-Op Check!

Completed my pre-op at the hospital today.  It was really not much to it.  Provided insurance info & health history, then blood work.  Mostly the same instructions as the band surgery.  I am feeling more confident & less nervous today.

Off to Disney with Hubby & the Grandkids for a week!

It's what's for breakfast

I grew up on breakfasts consisting of carb heavy pancakes, cereals, pastries & breads, bacon/sausage eggs.  Not good choices for a family where diabetes runs rampant.

Following my failed LapBand surgery I began reading more blogs with great tips suggesting healthier options.  Today my breakfasts consist of  protein smoothies with fresh berries or veggie omelets. Veggies could include anything from leftover asparagus, kale, spinach, or tomato.  Sometimes I add leftover chicken, turkey, fish or seafood.  I usually combine 1 egg & 2 egg whites.  We buy free range local eggs whenever possible.

Big change from those high carb, high fat breakfasts of my younger days :)

Becoming The new 2.0 Dee

Becoming a new healthier 2.0 version of myself is going to take some time, but there are some improvements I have taken prior to my Gastric Sleeve surgery..

Today I got a new fresher haircut, it's shorter & more stylish.

No more grains in my house! All gone.  No bread, no pasta, no grains to tempt.

Each morning I start my day with a fresh veggie omelet made with whatever veggies are in my fridge.  I add a little chia seeds for extra protein.  I have also began trying new imported cheeses to add variety.

Lunch is usually soups or fruit.

Hubby & I have began eating fish & various steamed veggies 2/3 times each week.

I feel good about these new changes ;)

Getting prepared for my sleeve

I'll be having LapBand to Sleeve revision surgery on Monday, March 10th.  I am excited and scared at the same time.  I remember being so optimistic when I had LapBand surgery only to have it fail miserably from ongoing complications.

  • I have started pre-surgery Low carb & high protein diet earlier than required.
  • I have stocked up on protein shakes & soups.
  • I will take before pics & measurements the Sunday prior.
  • Walking min 30 mins each day
